Cube Against Cancer is a World Cube Association competition series where competitors bring in Rubik's Cubes and other STEM-related toys, which are then donated to pediatric cancer patients. It began in Houston in 2023 when Brian Perry teamed up with Matt Lee, a competition organizer. Brian founded Ethan's Ohana in honor of his son Ethan Perry, who passed from cancer in 2021. Ethan learned to solve a cube in the hospital and became obsessed. The cube provided him comfort but was also an excellent tool for aiding fine motor skills and mental acuity impacted by treatment. Ethan's Ohana now donates cubes to cancer patients, bringing joy to children during a difficult time. Cube Against Cancer is now an annual competition series and has donated over 1500 cubes and other toys to children in hospitals across the United States.
